Son Jarocho, musical style of Veracruz, Mexico

The instruments most commonly associated with Son Jarocho are the jarana jarocho, a small guitar-like instrument for a harmonic base; the requinto jarocho, a small guitar-like instrument for higher pitch; the arpa jarocha, a harp; and percussion instruments such as pandero, a tambourine; cajón, a box percussion; and a quijada, an instrument made of a donkey jawbone.

  1. When I was young, one of my favorite musical groups was "Herb Alpert & The Tiajuana Brass." Do you know if they have influenced any of today's musical groups coming out of Mexico? Maybe I just haven't been paying attention, but there doesn't seem to have been any Mexican groups since then to have been so popular among U.S. pop music fans.
